Kalamazoo Mechanical, Inc. worked with Byce engineering and performed a complete HVAC upgrade on the existing 15,000 sq ft library. The (4) existing air handling units and existing boiler were completely removed. The air handlers were replaced with new Trane units and were provided with variable frequency drives for low noise operation, they were also outfitted with electric steam humidifiers as the humidity in the library is crucial to maintaining the books condition. The boiler was replaced with two high efficiency lochinvar condensing boilers to give the library redundancy to ensure operation during the cold Michigan winters. KMI performed the control work on this project and outfitted the building with new standalone controls for the boilers and air handling units.
